A tool and die maker by trade, Charles (Chuck) Avila has been repairing, building and restoring stringed instruments since the mid 60's. Chuck has run a Gold Certified repair center for Fender Musical Instruments Corporation since 1995. Bluff Country Stringed Instrument Repair received Custom Care status in 2009.
Specialties include finishing, fretting, refretting, assembling, disassembling, repair and set up, as well as electronic repairs and modifications. Previously in Chicago, work focused on the restoration and repair of vintage Martin, Gibson and Fender guitars. Work has also included consulting with several music stores in Chicago to help increase the efficiency of technicians.
